VIEWPOINT
600 km of hiking trails
Hohe Tauern National Park offers 600km of hiking trails, perfect for anyone looking to explore the boundless mountains and immerse themselves in Alpine magic.
The network features huge variety: from gentle walks through meadows and along forest trails, to challenging mountain summit tours.
The 140m long Stubnerkogel suspension bridge also offers impressive views: at 2,300m above sea level, it is the highest bridge of its kind in Europe and is open all year round.
Another spectacular viewpoint can be found directly opposite: the Glocknerblick viewing platform offers a fantastic view of Austria’s highest mountain, the Grossglockner. Visitors looking for (short) walks with spectacular views can tackle the rocky Stubnerkogel trail, which leads around 100m through steep, craggy rocks to a viewing platform.
Rise above it all and feel the freedom and power of the Alps during a hiking holiday in the Gastein Valley.
Pure climbing adrenaline
For the most direct path through the rocks, six via ferratas in the Gastein Valley cater for all skill levels. A rock-climbing practice area and a via ferrata practice course are also available. All climbing areas are close to the Kleine Scharte upper station on the Schlossalm lift. Experience an Alpine adrenaline kick on your hiking holiday in the Gastein Valley.
Wherever you go, go with all your heart.
