Climbing in Salzburg

Exciting via ferratas in Gastein and the surrounding area

Climbing on the Schlossalm
In addition to hiking on the Schlossalm, there are 6 via ferratas for all skill levels, providing fun for climbing fans of all ages. The difficulty levels of the via ferratas range from A to E and the climbing time on the individual routes is between 15 and 90 minutes. You can reach them with a short hike from the Schlossalmbahn mountain station.

In addition to the climbing routes, you will also find a course for checking your surefootedness on the Schlossalm. Here you can test and practise your climbing skills on short routes before tackling the larger courses.

The climbing garden on the Schlossalm is also an absolute experience. Various routes with ropes can be climbed on the almost 8-metre-high wall.
Klammstein climbing garden
The Klammstein climbing garden near Dorfgastein is ideal for both beginners and advanced climbers. Located directly on the banks of the Gasteiner Ache river, the Klammstein offers various routes with different levels of difficulty. Surrounded by the rock faces, you can also enjoy a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains on the routes. Good to know: you need to bring your own safety equipment (ropes, climbing harness, carabiners, helmet, belay devices, climbing shoes, etc.).

Via ferrata tours or via ferrata courses are available both at the Schlossalm and at the Klammstein climbing garden. The local Angerer Alpine School offers various options in the summer months.
